Designing For Human Scale

To create spaces in human scale is the key at architecture in order to keep a dynamic communication between the user and physical environment. Our modern world gave us many opportunities to reduce the time we spend for doing things but being in buildings out of our scale made us lost and disconnected from the earth. This limited connection has a significant impact on our physical and psychological health.

Humanized design can give us our lost connection back. It can stimulate our brain to go back to the Alpha brainwaves which are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts, and in some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning. Usually what happens when we step into a space of modern world, it swallows our existence and suck our energy in a second. A man made space should do the opposite and serve us in a positive manner.

Architects and engineers work together to create spaces however most of the time this multi disciplined team work goes to another direction out of track and instead of hearing the orchestral melody of the harmony, we hear the chaos and disconnection.

Our aim as 7Hills is to create a space between each step while creating the space and while it's getting constructed. Like doing Yoga, with each movement, your breath is your locomotive to carry you on to the next step. And with each step you actually create a 'space' It's the similar principle in architectural design and construction. Time matters but pausing at necessary steps is also essential for humanized design.
